MISSION COMPLETE!!! This year instead of traveling hundreds of miles to teach and show the youth how to serve we decided to stay in Lafayette and serve in our own community. I’ll be honest, a few weeks before our mission it looked like I was going to have to cancel it-I had 2 kids signed up, lots of “maybe’s” from the majority of the rest of the group, and worst of all, we didn’t have any feasible projects to work on! What’s a mission trip without a mission? Well of course God is good……kids showed up, we got 3 project requests, folks signed up to help feed us….things were looking great!! Then I saw the weather report-thunderstorms for Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday. Seriously??? We needed a break! Well of course, God is good….we painted a mom’s entire house our first day-no rain-and got to celebrate by going to Happy Hollow pool that night to cool off. Little Dresses for Haiti
Would you like to make a difference to a girl in Haiti? You can do this by donating pillowcases to the Little Dresses for Haiti project. Donated pillowcases may be placed in the basket located near the information table at the back of the sanctuary.
These pillowcases will be turned into dresses by local volunteers. The finished dresses are taken periodically to Haiti by area residents who are traveling to Haiti on various types of mission trips.
If you would like instructions to make the dresses yourself, see Janet Mauck or send her e-mail at [email protected]. You also can join Little Dresses for Haiti on Facebook to get more information and find out when periodic group dress-making sessions are held.
Want to Provide Housing for a Missionary?
The EDGE Corps is a one to two year ministry internship with The Navigators that gives recent college graduates a chance to reach college students with the gospel of Jesus Christ. Each EDGE Corps participant raises their own support and trusts God to provide housing in their “new home”. Would you be willing to provide a home to 1-2 of these campus missionaries? Please pray and ask God if this is a way you might be involved in advancing the gospel of Christ at Purdue University. Interested??? Contact the church office [email protected].
Calling All Nursery Workers
As we move to two worship services August 22nd, we are splitting each Sunday into 2 sessions and having workers sign up for (hopefully) 2 sessions a month. While signing up, volunteers can choose to serve both sessions in one Sunday or spread them out so they can attend church the other service on each Sunday they work. Please sign up on the form located in each of the nurseries. Guardian Angels can sign up for their timeslots by signing the form at the Angel Station. At that time you can pick up a volunteer application form if you are new to volunteering in the children’s ministries, or you have never completed and turned in an application in the past.
