Summer is here and we are off and running with Vacation Bible School plans. If you haven’t already, please take time to register your children now. Take the time to download the form attached below for your convenience or forms are available at the registration table in the back of the sanctuary. Our theme this year is Big Apple Adventure and begins June 20 thru 24 at 6:00 to 8:30 for 3yrs – going into 6th grade. The kids will learn that they can have faith in Jesus, love Jesus, trust Jesus as their Savior, Tell others about Jesus, and Live for Jesus.
This Sunday June 5th will be the last day to shop at the Promisemart store until fall. We have almost six shoeboxes filled with items the kids have purchased for the Christmas Shoebox Ministry that RCC participates in. Please encourage your children to give some of their earned Bucks to this ministry.
This summer the 3-5yr olds will hear how God gives strength and bravery through the stories of Noah, Daniel, Joshua, and Esther. They will learn what true friendship means through the stories of Ruth and Naomi, David and Jonathan, Jesus and His disciples, and Paul and Silas. They will end the summer months hearing about people in the Bible who made right choices and wrong choices, Through stories of Jesus’ disciples, Jonah, the leper who said “thank you,” and the Good Samaritan. Kids will learn to recognize a right choice and discover that God can help them make one.
The Metamorphosis Promiseland Curriculum is created to help us impact the lives of kids K-5th grades for Christ as we focus on the book of Proverbs and the amazing life change described in Romans 12:2. ”Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think, then you will know what God wants you to do, and you will know how good and pleasing and perfect His will really is.”
In the first nine weeks of this 10-week curriculum, the large group team becomes the Insecticide Theatre Company and presents a “bug parable” to show kids an example of “worldly behavior” (such as telling lies or acting impatiently). The teacher presents the verse from Proverbs, which shows how we can change the way we think about that worldly behavior. Kids learn that this change in our thinking results in God transforming us. The Team Time life application activity then guides kids into what God wants them to do so they can put their newly changed thinking into action in their lives and know “how good and pleasing and perfect His will really is”.
Children will discover that God wants us all to experience a “metamorphosis” as we learn from the Bible and then change our attitudes and relationships, the way we talk, and the way we work. Finally, in lesson 10, children will learn about the “Ultimate Metamorphosis” God wants us to experience when we become Forever Friends with His Son, Jesus.
Have a great summer remembering our God who is the giver of all good things.
