Promise Land

Wow, it’s hard to believe we are winding down from Summer already! It has been a nice break for us in Promiseland by having only one teaching time this summer. As we look forward to September, we have many changes coming. Sometimes I feel all we do down here is make changes, but I guess that is inevitable as we continue to grow as a church.

Our first change will be to two services starting August 22. This will not be Promotion Sunday because our Promiseland curriculum does not begin until the first Sunday in September. At this time, our children will move up to their new classes. If your child has turned two by September 5 he or she will go to the 2 year class. If your child has turned 3-5 years by then, he or she will go to the 3-5 year class. The same will be true for the other grades K-5th. The only time children will move up to another class will be on Promotion Sunday each Fall.

The VBS Craft room needs your help supplying the children with arts and crafts!  There is a poster on the VBS sign-up table with numerous tags of various colors.  Each tag has a number and the description of the items needed for different crafts during VBS.  Please take a tag or two, and put your name on the attached sheet next to the items you are purchasing.  Return the items with the tag attached to the church by Monday, June 21.  If you have any questions, please contact Stephanie Brennan (532-5682) or thebronchobrennans@yahoo.com.

This week in the service we recognized those Promiseland kids who successfully completed the Promiseland Bible Challenge.  The K-3rd grades shared the song they used to help them memorize all 66 books of the Bible. While eight kids we able to memorize all 66 books, almost all of the kids were able to memorize the entire New Testament and most of the Old. Those Minor Prophets can be tricky!

Our first ever Vacation Bible School is this week -- June 21-25 at 6:30 in the evening. We will embark on a SonQuest Rainforest adventure that will transport young minds into a vivid rainforest environment of jungle sounds, sights and smells, where they’ll dig into the Bible and meet Jesus in every day’s story.  It's not too late to get the entire family involved either by attending or by volunteering to help in some way. Wow! Spring is here and I have the fever, how about you? We have some exciting news in children’s ministry. First of all we are planning our first ever Vacation Bible School on June 21-25 at 6:30 in the evening. We will embark on a SonQuest Rainforest adventure that will transport young minds into a vivid rainforest environment of jungle sounds, sights and smells, where they’ll dig into the Bible and meet Jesus in every day’s story.

God is blessing us with growing pains again!  We have two Children’s Church classes averaging 15-20 children each.  We are dividing them, therefore we need your help.  Eight more teachers and 8 more helpers are needed.  Volunteers would help 1 Sunday a month and all prep work would be done for you.  Just show up on Sunday morning, get your instructions and love the kids.  To help contact Dar Muehlhausen at dar@rcovenant.org.

Riverside has crossed the halfway mark in the E100 Challenge.  So it seems appropriate that Promise Land should have their own Bible Challenge.
