On Saturday we braved Indy traffic and headed to the Heartland Film Festival movie "Jesus Freaks"–which, by the way, we learned about from Amy Fisher’s brother who is involved in the press for the film. IT WAS AMAZING!!! Go to www.jesusfreaks.com and check out the trailer for yourself. It’s all about Youth with a Mission’s Discipleship Training School in Colorado, and their outreach months in Israel and Sarajevo. This is the school that had several students shot a few years ago. It was just crazy to see a bunch of snowboarders that have all had difficult backgrounds come together to serve the Lord. They weren’t perfect by any means, and I think it just showed our students that you don’t have to be perfect to do awesome things for Jesus! We headed to Camp Talitha from there and spent the night playing board games, wrestling (I think River won) and just having a sweet time together. On Sunday, we woke up, had a yummy pancake breakfast, and then we had some time in the Word. We asked the kids, "So, you guys haven’t had the rough lifestyle that alot of those DTS kids have had. What is it going to take besides hitting rock bottom to decide to put Christ first in your life?" We gave them time to think, pray, and read their Bibles, then came back for discussion. It’s hard to move from complacency to sold-out. But that’s what I’m prayin for!
