So last night we started our reusable plastic bag campaign-what a mess there was to clean up this morning!! It was awesome!!
It probably didn’t help that River hung out with us and ate a million tootsie rolls and threw wrappers everywhere-along with Brandon’s lovely trails of popcorn! It was fantastic-at 6:30 I turn around, and there’s Brandon asking what we’re doing tonight. I explain the process of fusing plastic and he jumps right in cutting up a hundred or so plastic bags. Mark arrives shortly after and asks where another pair of scissors are. No "this is stupid", or any other annoyed phrase-just what can we do to make this happen-and we had a great time listening to rock music and catching up on the week. WE HAVE GREAT KIDS here at Riverside! Man they’re awesome! Then Senior High arrived and we were just chatting, asking what they wanted to talk about-and I do believe the exact phrase out of one of the mouths was "let’s talk about something really deep". Seriously??? Right on!! So we talked about heaven and hell, how you get to them, and if the world is really going to end in 2012 like the Mayan calendar is predicting. It was awesome to hear what they hope heaven is like, try to calm fears about the earth being vaporized, and just telling them flat out-GOD LOVES YOU, love Him back, love Jesus as your Savior, and you don’t have to worry about all the other details that everyone gets so caught up in. Anyway, God is good-when we feel inadequate He is always there and He is always enough.
