So this weekend I had planned to roll hot chocolate around campus and give it away to chilly students–well, it was raining and I was so tired from my little sister’s wedding that I wasn’t feeling like I could serve in the rain–something to work on! Instead we started prepping the boathouse basement for paint. We grabbed scrapers (and when we didn’t have enough we found some extra spatulas) and went to town on the roughest part of the basement, where college students had written questionable comments all over. We talked and laughed–they chased each other around with spiderweb covered hands and dirt. It was actually fun to watch the transformation. As the senior high scraped away, we talked about making that area into a little inner sanctuary-what a way to physically show the inward change we hope happens through the time we have with the students. God scrapes away at our yucky spots-sometimes it’s really hard work-but the end result gives all the glory to him. My desire is to keep that theme alive as we make this space our own, and give him all the glory!!!
