Our Mission

Our Mission

Riverside’s Mission is simple.

We work together to follow Jesus (Up), share life with one another (In), and serve our community and world (Out).

We got the idea from Jesus.

Up – “Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.  This is the first and greatest commandment.”  (Matthew 22:37)

In – “For where two or three gather in my name, there am I with them.”  (Matthew 18:20)

Out – “Love your neighbor as yourself.”  (Matthew 22:39)

How does Riverside work together to follow Jesus?

Riverside reads the Bible and prays together through our Bible Reading Plan. Riverside’s daily bible readings are thematically connected to our Sunday sermons and many of our Pods.  Our Bible Reading Plan is designed both for people that are reading the Bible for the first time and people that have been reading the Bible their entire lives.  We read the Scripture, Observe what stands out, find something that we can Apply to our life, and Pray that God will help us live it out. (SOAP)

Riverside also gathers together for worship every Sunday.  During our time together we sing songs, read from the Bible, and pray.  On Sundays we also work together to help our children follow Jesus through our Nursery and RiverKids.  Our Youth meet to grow in faith on Sunday evenings.

How does Riverside share life with one another?

We believe Riverside’s Sunday worship gatherings are important, but we also believe that everyone needs a more personal place to talk about what God is doing in our lives.  Riverside Pods are where we find spiritual conversation and authentic community among a small group of people.  Our Pods give us the chance to discuss how we are practicing our faith in our family, workplace, neighborhood, and community.

We regularly share meals together on special occasions and 5th Sundays.

We come alongside people struggling through a difficult time in life through our Stephen Ministry.

We seek to love and show hospitality to one another by providing meals after a birth or death or during an illness through our Meal Train.

We also share our resources with one another through our Benevolence Fund, which gives us the opportunity to meet needs that arise in our church and the Greater Lafayette community.

How does Riverside serve our community and world?

We go where brokenness is and work to restore the Greater Lafayette community spiritually, emotionally, physically, economically, and socially.  We do this together through our Community Outreach efforts.

Our work does not stop with our local community, though.  We also support and partner with God’s work throughout the globe through Global Missions.  This includes our ongoing partnership and annual mission trip to Cangahua, Ecuador.

Riverside is fully committed to going Up, In and Out and regularly assesses our church’s health through our Mission Markers.
