Promiseland Chatter-January 2010

On December 20th, Promiseland children entertained approximately 90 family members and friends with the presentation of the Backwards Christmas Pageant.  A huge “Thank you!” to Dana for directing and Kelly, Missy, and Megan, her helpers.  The fun continued as Becky and Ryan coordinated a Christmas caroling adventure through the Riverside Covenant neighborhood.  Afterwards, it was back to the church for pizza, side dishes, and a birthday cake for Jesus.  It was an evening of fun and fellowship, and hopefully God was glorified as we celebrated the birth of His Son.

This month, Discovery Hour 3-to-5-year-olds are hearing true stories about Jesus when He was by the sea:  Jesus calling His disciples, Jesus calming the sea, Jesus walking on water, and the miraculous catch of fish.

K-through-3rd-graders will learn:
1) Jesus is God’s Son, so it is wise to worship Him.
2) Jesus grew in wisdom, strength, and favor, and He wants them to be like Him.
3) Jesus chooses us and wants us to follow Him.
4) Jesus loves children!

In the 4th-and-5th-grade class, children will be challenged to go deeper in their relationships with Jesus.  Through lessons focused on the early events in Jesus’ ministry, they will discover ways to go deeper through sharing their faith, being baptized, studying Scripture, being with Jesus, and praying.  By looking at various individuals who encountered Jesus, children will soon realize once you encounter Jesus you are never the same.
