This is Karen Swift and I want to let you know about a fabulous documentary my sister Sylvia has produced/directed. She is an Emmy Award winning director and very good at what she does. It opens in New York City April 25th and in Los Angeles May 2nd. I have arranged a one night showing of it in West Lafayette at Wabash Landing on May 12th at 6:30 PM. In order for this to happen I must pre-sell enough tickets online by May 5th.
The film takes place in Tanzania, Africa. It follows the journey of Venance, a young Tanzanian man as he returns home for a visit. He has been living in the U.S. for nine years attending school due to sponsorship and scholarship arranged by a missionary teacher. He takes along with him an American friend who has led a privileged life. They climb Mt.Kilimanjaro, go on safari and visit many locations both small and large. Ven reconnects with family he has not seen in almost ten years. The beauty of Africa and its wildlife is spectacular. Extreme poverty and sickness are very present as is the resilience of the human spirit. The experience completely transforms the American friend. She realizes how easy her life has been and that what really matters is the person you are on the inside, having relationships with God and other people, and not how much stuff you have.
