In the summer of 2014, Riverside began a long term partnership with Buen Pastor de Cangahua Iglesia del Pacto Evangélico (Good Pastor of Cangahua Evangelical Covenant Church) and Covenant Merge Ministries in Cangahua, Ecuador.
We returned to Ecuador every summer through 2019 to work on construction projects, to teach at local schools, to help with Vacation Bible School, and to do anything else that the local church or community needs. The year 2020 kept us from returning, but plans are in the works to return in 2024.
Our goal is to learn from our friends in Ecuador, to partner with the work God is already doing there, to experience God in new ways, to build lasting friendships, and to be an encouragement in all ways possible.
Sitting on the equator, Ecuador is located on the northern Pacific coast of South America. Ecuador shares a border with Colombia to the north and Peru to the south and east. Ecuador is one of the poorest countries in Latin America. 61% of Ecuadorian children live in poverty.
