This week in the Men’s Bible study we are examining Mark 6 and we will look at the story of Jesus feeding the 5,000 in Mark 6:32-45.  At the beginning of the year I attended our denomination’s MidWinter Conference in Chicago.  At the conference, Gary Haugen, President of the International Justice Mission, gave this humorous and powerful explanation of this awesome miracle. In President Obama’s address to Congress this week, he told the story of a Miami banker who gave away $60 million dollars of his own money to employees.

 

I have a long list of pastors that I admire, but I have to admit that I admire this pastor for a whole other set of reasons.  Enjoy the drama.

 

 

Lesson from Feburary 15th, 2009

Colossians 2:16 – 23

Last week, we studied Col 2:6 – 2:15.  Note that 2:16 begins with “Therefore,” linking our verses this week with the prior verses.  Let us first review part of last week’s lesson.  We saw that Paul was giving the Church at Colosse a warning.  Apparently, like many of the early churches, the church in Colosse had individuals whose teachings deviated from the purity of the Gospel as preached by Paul.
