Riverside is again making Advent devotionals available for your family this year. Be sure to pick one up on Sunday. We have two available: 1) a family devotional with activities for kids and 2) an adult devotional for families without children in the home. Below are the descriptions of each. Please let this be an opportunity to experience God as we draw near to Christmas.
Overview:
The days and weeks before Christmas are filled with activity and excitement, much of it focused on social events and the exchange of gifts. For Christian families, the coming of Christmas is a reminder not only that they look forward to the coming of Christ, but also that they are already living in the presence of their Lord and Savior. Author Caroline Pignat’s family-friendly reflections on Scripture include suggestions for discussion, action and prayer that help us see God’s presence in our family, church and community. God is indeed with us, and as we pray together as a family during Advent, our appreciation deepens for Christ and for one another.
Overview:
To help sort out the jumble, stress and even pain that many experience around the Christmas holiday, Robert Hereth’s Advent devotions tie our daily concerns to the astounding promise that holds everything together; the Lord is coming! Touching the traditional bases in Advent—Isaiah, John the Baptist, Mary, the second coming—Hereth brings home the truth that our loving God was behind it all, just as he is present in our lives today.
