Greetings from the Purdue University Black Cultural Center!
For 39 incredible years The Black Voices of Inspiration have been performing Spirituals, Gospels, and Contemporary songs of inspiration and passion. It is with great excitement and expectancy that we continue the tradition with our 39th Annual Spring Concert on April 5, 2014. I am writing to extend a personal invitation for you to attend this amazing performance.
The Black Voices of Inspiration have shared music and melody throughout the United States and across the globe. They have combined efforts with Purdue Musical Organizations, The Bach Chorale Singers of Lafayette, and exchange programs with several Midwestern colleges and Universities. This year we are very proud to announce our spring concert will be an exciting collaboration with Maestro Nicholas Palmer and the Lafayette Symphony Orchestra. Our concert is entitled Gospel Meets Symphony and will occur at the Long Center for the Performing Arts 111 N. 6th Street Lafayette, Indiana at 7:30pm on Saturday, April 5.
This historic concert under the direction of BVOI artist in residence, Dr. Twana Harris, will fuse memorizing orchestral sounds with powerful words and vocal melodies. This is the first concert of its kind in the Lafayette/West Lafayette area, and it sure to be one that will not only enhance our sense of community but will celebrate the rich and moving tradition of Gospel music. We invite you to attend this collaborative concert.
Tickets for the concert ($8.00 -$35.00) are on sale now and can be purchased on line www.lafayettesymphony.org or calling the Long Center Box Office at 765 742 6463. We fully anticipate the concert will SELL OUT so it is critical you confirm your ticket order now. Please share this invitation with others so they too will have the opportunity to witness this groundbreaking performance.
Every once in a while an opportunity comes by that affirms your sense of community and place, acknowledges your pride and history, and inspires you. This is one of those opportunities.
