The Local Community Outreach Ministry would like to begin a 6 week rotation of collecting items for several events in the coming 10 months. We would like to challenge EVERY family who attends Riverside to bring one item each week. If you are up to the challenge, bring one item for each member in your family. For example, week one is canned fruit or vegetable…if you have 5 in your family, bring 5 cans. Please bring at least one no matter what your family size. The item being requested for the next week will be printed in the bulletin. Below is the rotation schedule if you want to print it off.
The collection will benefit the following events:
- Lafayette Transitional Housing Center
Julie Griffin has been preparing a meal on Wednesday evening once a month. They have almost doubled the number of meals served in August versus April. The Local Community Outreach Ministry would like to increase the number of meals we serve at LTHC from one a month to three. We need your help to accomplish this.
- Jubilee Christmas Families
These families will have the opportunity to get food and paper products when they come for their children’s gifts in December. It will let them know in a big way that Riverside Covenant Church cares about them and their well being.
- A local food pantry will receive any remaining items.
Currently it will go to LTHC. They are looking to close their pantry once Food Finders has their food pantry up and running.
Rotation Schedule as of September 13, 2015 is as follows:
1st Sunday — Canned fruit or vegetables
2nd Sunday — Boxed goods (i.e. pasta, meal helpers, mac n cheese)
3rd Sunday — Canned meats
4th Sunday — Paper products
5th Sunday — Canned soups
6th Sunday — Meals in a can (i.e. ravioli)

Tina says
It was once said that people who have their belly full of food are more open to Jesus’s soul food. And they don’t care how much you know, until they know how much you care. I am on a mission to make sure people know how much I care about them and I can’t wait to tell them how much Jesus cares for them.
