Riverside’s semi-annual meeting will be held following the Sunday worship service on July 19th. At this meeting members will be voting to add two new members to the Leadership Team beginning in January 2010 and on a constituional amendment related to the Pastoral Relations Committee. The Nominating Committee has nominated Stephanie Stout and Rick Johnson for the Leadership Team, read below to find out a little bit more about them.
Stephanie Stout
Originally from Spokane, Washington, Stephanie Stout ventured to Purdue to get her master’s in Health Promotion and work as a graduate assistant certified athletic trainer. Her first year at Purdue she met David while playing a game of pick-up basketball. Stephanie and David were married in July 1995. Stephanie was hired full time at Purdue as an assistant athletic trainer and continued there until they had their first son Tyler (11). Stephanie retired early to become a full time Mom and the domestic engineer of their home. They have 2 other sons Alex (8) and Jesse (5).
Stephanie invited Christ into her life through an outreach program she and David were invited to. At the Stout’s previous church Stephanie coordinated the nursery, taught Sunday school and assisted with Vacation Bible School. She has also attended numerous leadership seminars and read many Christian leadership books. She is an active parent with the Otterbein PTO, where she serves as the teacher appreciation committee chair, volunteers regularly in the classroom and teaches Junior Achievement. She recently retired from her position (8+ years) as a parent board representative for Covenant Kid’s Alive pre-school (Jesse is going to Kindergarten). Stephanie enjoy sports, exercising, reading, gardening, crocheting, and scrapbooking. Most of all she loves to spend time with her family and friends.
Rick Johnson
Rick Johnson is a lifetime Lafayette resident with a short 2 year stay at Columbia International University in South Carolina. He returned to Indiana to finish aviation and criminology degrees at Indiana State University. He currently has a commercial development company.
Rick and Paula were high school sweethearts who married seven years and 12 days after their first date. Paula is an elementary teacher in the Lafayette School Corporation. They have two adult children. Brett is 28 and after graduating Purdue became part of the company and will be married in our church in August. Emily is a Taylor University student finishing her elementary degree and lives in Fort Wayne.
Rick was saved at a very early age thanks to the strong commitment of a family that has deep roots in God’s Kingdom. Through him Paula also found Christ. He is very burdened for the lost and appreciates the desire of Riverside to reach out to those in need here and abroad. He has enjoyed being part of the Missions Committee, ushering, and greeting and looks forward to serving in any way possible to further the cause of Christ.
