Happy Spring to all of you!! Some are blaming me for our extended “winter like weather” because of the snowmen and snowflakes still up in Promiseland. I really do like snow but I guess it is time for some flowers and warm weather. The snowmen are in hibernation along with their snowflakes so don’t blame me if it snows again!
On a more serious note, Sunday April 14, the Prayer Team is asking adults and kids to share a prayer of their own and how God has answered that prayer. They will use cardboard to write them on. If you have been in the service when we have done Cardboard Testimonies, this will be the same. Your kids have been praying together in their rooms each Sunday and I personally have been part of some awesome prayer time with the kids. It would be great if you would encourage your kids to participate in this sharing time. Please contact Diane Kelley if you are interested in this opportunity.
For the next four weeks our 3-5yr. kids will hear; the story of Jesus helping His friends catch fish and eating breakfast with them, Jesus is always with us so we can choose to trust and obey Him, even though we can’t see Him, how Jesus’ friends started the first church and helped each other, and the story of Saul’s conversion when he was blinded by a light and heard the voice of Jesus on the road to Damascus.
During the month of April our K-1st graders will become members of the Sinbuster Club. The purpose of the Sinbuster Club is to give kids a safe and fun place to discover what sin is, what God thinks of our sin, and how we can “bust” or resist sin. Kids will learn as Sinsbusters, their responsibility is to bust sin whenever they recognize it in their own lives. As they do this, they are working toward making right choices to please God with their behavior. They will learn about busting the sin of unwholesome talk, stealing, dishonesty, and disobedience.
Kids in the 2nd-3rd grade will be learning about the Holy Spirit. They will learn Jesus promised to send the Holy Spirit to be a helper for us. They will learn the Holy Spirit helps us by guiding us and teaching us and His primary way of guiding us is through the Bible. The kids will learn the Holy Spirit helps us to remember what the Bible says. They will learn the Holy Spirit helps us because He never leaves us and we can ask Him to help us do what is right. The kids will have the opportunity to explore situations where they can ask the Holy Spirit for guidance and strength, because the Holy Spirit is our Ultimate Helper.
Our 4th-5th grade will learn believers are the light of the world. If they are following Jesus, they have His light inside of them and need to shine their light in our dark world so others will come to know God. Each week kids will learn in order to shine, they must overcome obstacles that prevent them from shining. They will learn to overcome their fears and set an example by living life the way Jesus teaches in the Bible. They will be taught to match their actions with their faith. They will hear as believers, they are children of God, members of God’s family, and unconditionally loved. They can build their confidence on God’s promises rather than on other things and have the confidence to shine. They will learn to choose to use encouraging words rather than unwholesome talk. Kids will learn to be joyful and persevere no matter what they are facing.
