Hi everyone, it’s cold outside, burrrr….I hope this letter finds you all healthy and warm inside your homes and hearts. As I have endured a long two weeks of a cold and the flu, it makes me so grateful for the times of good health and feeling energized. I don’t know if this makes you parents feel better, but right before I got sick, with the help of my husband, we cleaned and sanitized all of the toys and furniture in the nurseries and PL rooms. Mmmm… maybe that’s how I got sick. Oh well, I hope this helps with all of the nasty germs going around right now.
Get your calendars out and mark Sunday, March 3rd 5:15-7:15 for our yearly skating party at Great Skates. We will have pizza and drinks as usual and the cost will be $6 dollars for food and skates. We will have a great time and hope everyone can join us.
This month the 3-5yr. room will hear stories of Jesus’ unconditional love for everyone, including them, through the stories of Jesus welcoming the little children, Jesus healing two blind men, and the Good Samaritan.
This final unit of the Winter Quarter, kids in the K-1st grade will learn how Jesus teaches us to live. They will hear the salvation message and be invited to ask Jesus to be their Forever Friend. Kids will hear the story of the Good Samaritan and learn that Jesus wants us to treat others as we would want to be treated. They will hear the story of how Peter obeyed Jesus by putting in his fishing nets on the other side of the boat and them following Him. They will learn we need to obey Jesus even when it is hard. Kids will hear “The Lord’s Prayer” and learn they can praise God and ask Him for things they need, for help to obey, and for forgiveness.
Our 2nd-3rd grade class will be taught about Jesus being the Good Shepherd. With the focus on the GROWTH and GROUP Gs, the kids will be learning we are like sheep and we need Jesus, our Good Shepherd. Throughout the month, the kids will learn different characteristics of sheep and shepherds. They will find out like sheep, we are sometimes afraid, and the Good Shepherd knows how to comfort and care for us. The kids will be taught the difference between needs and wants, and they will learn the Good Shepherd meets our needs. They will hear like sheep, we go astray, and Jesus sets limits and gives us guidance. This month concludes with a salvation message and focuses on GRACE, as kids learn the Good Shepherd laid down His life for us, His sheep.
The 4th and 5th graders are going on a ‘Gift Quest’ this month. They will learn about spiritual gifts and how they are used to serve and build up the Church. Kids will learn the Holy Spirit gives gifts to Christians. They will learn about some of the spiritual gifts, and how each gift is vital to the growth, health, and welfare of the Church.
Be well, and be in the Word with your kids,
Dar Muehlhausen
