Our February Family Fun Night at Great Skates was truly fun! Approximately 60 to 70 RCC people enjoyed skating and dining on Arni’s pizza. We’ve decided to make it an annual February event to help us beat the winter blues.
Speaking of winter, thank you, Ryan and Becky, for taking the 4th, 5th, and 6th-graders to Winterfest at Covenant Harbor. We heard a great time of fun and fellowship was enjoyed by all.
A huge “Congratulations!” and “Way to go!” goes out to Promiseland kids for completing their second World Vision mission project. We will embark on another one in the next week or two.
We are planning our fist RCC Vacation Bible School, so mark your calendars for June 21-25 at 6:00 p.m. We’re excited and will count on a lot of you to help us have a successful adventure.
We seem to have a reoccurring theme…we are overcrowded in two Promiseland rooms. Our 3-5 year olds and K-3rd graders are averaging an attendance of 15-20 in each class. Even though our rooms are large enough, this is too many children in one room, so we are dividing each class. Our plan is take the 3 year olds to another room and have the 4 and 5 year olds together. We will also now have a K-1st grade in one room, and 2nd-3rd grades in another. Of course, this means we need more help to staff the extra rooms, but God has always been faithful to provide, so we will continue to trust Him through this new expansion. We will have rooms ready in about three weeks and will make the transition as soon as enough people volunteer to help in the classes.
This month the 3-5 year olds will hear stories of the widow who gave her last two coins to God, Joseph and his brothers, and David and Jonathan. They will learn how we can love others.
This month our K-3rd graders will hear about Jesus’ “Sermon on the Mount”, found in Matthew 5-7. Children will learn that Jesus gave us directions for living our lives – directions on praying, giving to others, and not worrying – and when we follow these directions, we shine for Him and people can tell we follow Jesus.
Our 4th and 5th graders, through creative dramas and teaching, will be shown what being a Real Super Hero is all about. Barrier Breakers teaches kids that God loves them no matter what and wants them to accept others by breaking down barriers. Beating the Greed teaches the kids that God is generous, so they can joyfully give with a generous attitude. Pure in Heart teaches kids that Jesus desires for them to be pure and gives them the power they need to conquer the battle.
Serving Him Together,
