Promiseland Chatter-March 2012

Happy Spring to everyone! At least that is what it feels like today as the temperature is 60 degrees outside. It will be nice if it stays this way for all the Spring Breaks coming up this month. We are thinking spring in Promiseland as we start practicing songs for Palm Sunday. Your children will be waving palm branches on Palm Sunday again this year. They will enter both worship services to O Praise Him by David Crowder Band and then will sing Praise Ye the Lord. It will not matter which service they attend. Feel free to practices at home with them if you can.

For those that could not join us for the RCC Skate Night, you missed a fun night. We had around eighty people who attended. We skated to some not so cool Christian Music, according to some, and enjoyed pizza and drinks. It was a great time to fellowship and spend time with friends and other people you didn’t know so well.

In case you missed last Sunday’s announcement about VBS, we have moved it to July 9-13. We felt with the large number of people going on the Mission trip to Guatemala the week before VBS and the youth trip the week following VBS, it was too much for our people. Hopefully this works out better for many of you.

This month, our 3-5 year old children will hear the story of Paul and Silas praying in prison, and the story of Peter’s friends praying while Peter was in jail. Kids will learn that we can pray to Jesus anywhere and anytime. They will also hear the stories of Noah and Jonah, that God wants us to obey.

Continuing to “Look at the Pieces” of God’s amazing story, K/1st graders are learning about Jesus’ “Sermon on the Mount,” found in Matthew 5-7. Children will learn that Jesus gave us directions for living our lives—directions on praying, giving to others, and not worrying—and when we follow these directions we shine for Him and people can tell we follow Jesus. Two fun experts on each of these topics will be joining the teacher during the lessons to give kids a chance to discern which kind of actions follow Jesus’ directions and which ones do not.

Our 2nd/3rd grade kids are continuing their sequential journey through the Bible. They are examining the life-changing principles Jesus taught during his ministry on earth. The kids will learn how Jesus healed the blind man, the story of the Good Samaritan, the Poor Widow, and the miracle of Jesus raising Lazarus from the dead.

As the 4th/5th graders open up the New Testament, they will explore incredible stores during Jesus’ ministry. Through creative dramas and teaching, kids will be shown what being a Real Superhero is all about. Barrier Breakers teaches kids that God loves them no matter what and wants them to accept others by breaking down barriers. Beating the Greed teaches kids that God is generous so they can joyfully give with a generous attitude. Pure In Heart teaches kids that Jesus desires for them to be pure and gives them the power they need to conquer the battle.

Blessings to all of you.
