Over the past two months I have been able to teach in a couple different class rooms in Promiseland. I normally am not teaching because of my other PL responsibilities on Sunday morning but, for unforeseen circumstances, I had the privilege of being with some of your children in the classroom. I can’t tell you what a joy it was to be in the Word with them and to see how seeds of Faith are growing in them. Although we in Kid’s ministry try our best to partner with you in their spiritual growth, it is you as parents who statistics show are the primary faith influencers in their lives. I give kudos to you for a job well done! Keep up the good work as you continue to build Godly character and a love for God in them.
May is our last month in Promiseland with two services. We will go to one service for the summer and it will be the 10:45 service. We are able to have only one service because families will be away vacationing in the summer. Your children will have a worship time of singing and then watch Bible DVDs in their classrooms. Kid’s will not be memorizing bible verses and earning bible bucks but we will work on memorizing the 23rd Psalm. We will be praying for a safe summer for all who travel.
The 3-5 yr. class in the month of May is seeing the amazing works God did in the early church through stories of Saul’s conversion, Peter’s escape from prison, and Barnabas the encourager. The final lesson is a review of God’s story from Creation all the way through Jesus going to heaven.
Through four stories about Paul, the K-1st grade kids are hearing because of Paul and others more and more people were learning about and believing in Jesus. These stories will also help kids learn that, just like Paul, they can trust God. Through the story of Paul’s trip to Damascus, kids will learn that God has a plan for them, just like He had a plan for Paul. Next, kids will hear about Paul’s escape from Damascus in a basket and learn God protected Paul and He can protect them too. The story of Paul and Silas in prison will help children understand God is always with them, so they don’t have to be afraid. They can trust God like Paul and Silas did. Then kids will hear the story of the shipwreck during Paul’s journey to Rome. Kids will learn God is with them so they can have courage like Paul did.
The 2nd -3rd grade class is hearing stories of the birth and growth of the Christian Church and the community the members experienced following Jesus’ resurrection and ascension. Early Christians devoted themselves to God, each other, and to telling others about Jesus. The Church is built to last because of devotion, community, evangelism, and perseverance.
Through incredible stories of the early church and present day people, the 4th-5th graders are being challenged to be History Makers, impacting their world for Jesus. Their lessons focus on individuals who, through the power of the Holy Spirit, made history by changing their world. Peter boldly preached and healed in the name of Jesus. Paul was the chief among sinners but was forgiven and impacted the entire world with his message. Timothy was young, yet was used as a History Maker in the early Church. John was persecuted and exiled because of his faith, and wrote Jesus’ message regarding the rest of God’s story.
