This month on the 23rd your family will be able to present your Operation Christmas shoe boxes at both services. Please check your children into Promiseland (PL) and take them back up to the sanctuary with you to take your boxes up as a family. They will then return to PL with the help of their teachers. We also will not have PL Thanksgiving weekend the 30th. Your children will be able to worship with you in the sanctuary. Nurseries will be available.
Our kids in Promiseland are in their last unit of our fall curriculum. Continuing in November our 3-5yr kids will hear how God works in the lives of His people through the stories of God hearing Hannah’s prayer, God anointing David as king, God taking care of Elijah, and God healing Naaman after the little servant girl helped him.
Our K-1st grade will continue to grow in their understanding of God and His purpose by hearing four stories from the Old Testament. Kids will learn about the characteristics of four ”Friends of God”, Josiah’s obedience, David and Jonathan’s friendship, the poor widow’s generosity and Esther’s courage. Kids will be challenged to think about how they can obey God, be a good friend, share with others, and ask God for courage to do the right thing.
The 2nd-3rd grade kids will learn about various “Friends of God” from the Old Testament, and look a how those people grew in their friendships with God. They will learn friends of God grow through having the courage to do what is right, by serving God and others. The medium of art will be used in a couple lessons. By learning about these Old Testament Friends of God, kids will learn how to grow in their own friendships with God.
The 4th-5th graders are learning how to become contagious Christians and extend the message of Grace. They will learn lost people matter to God and they should matter to us, too. In order to reach out to their lost friends, kids will discover and practice ways to help their friends develop a friendship with God. They will learn how to creatively reach out and build a friendship, tell their story, share the story of Jesus, and set a Christ-like example
Have a wonderful Thanksgiving with loved ones,
Dar
