Changes and more changes seem to be the theme in Promiseland of late. I’m feeling the effects some days more than others as I’m sure you as parents are also. Some Sunday mornings I feel like I’ve lost my brain and don’t know where to find it. Not complaining though. God is good and He is blessing us in many ways. He is faithful always to provide teachers and helpers as we continue to grow. All praise to Him! We’ve kicked Miss Becky and the youth out of their room and moved them to the "White House" next door. Thanks, Miss Becky, for so graciously giving up your room! Our 3-5 year old children in Children’s Church have lots of room to spread out now.
Our new 2 year old Children’s Church class is doing great. We’ve had as many as 7 children learning to sit and listen to a Bible story followed by a simple craft and then they sing a song that goes with the Bible story. They’ve really surprised us at how much they will participate.
We now have a Promise Mart Store in the Promiseland hallway that, according to some parents, has caused some "shoplifting" episodes with their children. (Sorry parents…) We are now bribing your children to come to Discovery Hour, bring their Bibles, memorize their memory verse and bring a friend. For each of these tasks, they will earn "Bible Bucks" to purchase items from our Promise Mart Store. So far, it has caused a lot of enthusiasm with the kids. Our prayer and hope is to hide God’s Word in the hearts of your children so they might be more like Him in all they do and say.
The final change made this month is "Hallway Worship" as we all call it. We bring all the Promiseland Children’s Church kids into the hallway to sit and sing songs to God. Miss Becky has been leading us but she will have some helpers joining her soon. Our worship time lasts about 15 minutes and then back to our rooms for Children’s Church.
This month our Discovery Hour 3-5 year olds are hearing true stories of Old Testament kids: Miriam, David, the little girl who helped Naaman, and Josiah. They will learn that kids can do hard things, God is with us, God want to help others and we can obey Him.
Discovery Hour K-3rd are continuing through the Old Testament learning about the life of Moses. Beginning with baby Moses, they will learn how God cares for us and protect us. They will discover God is our helper as Moses crossed the Red Sea and lastly how God provides for us through the story of manna, quail and water in the wilderness.
Discovery Hour 4th and 5th graders are also looking into the world of Moses. Through the drama presented each week, kids will look at the challenges that faced Moses. Following the Exodus story the salvation message will be presented by comparing the events of Passover with the events surrounding Jesus’ death on the cross for our freedom.
As always, to God we give all glory, honor and thanksgiving for how He cares and blesses us!
