Hey Everyone one! Happy Monday, I came across this video a few weeks ago, and I found it powerful. It was in my heart as we sang it this Sunday during worship. Sunday evening as I watched again into the wee hours of today, I was struck again, by this young boy’s passion. And I was thinking about, how someone in his life, taught him Sign Language. Someone in his life taught him about Jesus. Someone in his life showed him that God loves him recklessly. Someone explained to him the parable of the lost sheep. He listened over and over, and he began to see and believe that God made him, loved him, and pursued him. As the generation before, it is our great privilege to show the next generation the greatness of our God. Then to show them that they have a place in God’s story of reckless love. To whom in the next generation are you leaving a legacy of love? You could be leaving this legacy to the kids in our own church body. Teaching in Riverkids isn’t about teaching kids a bunch of rules or the right way to live. It is about showing them God loves them with reckless abandon. That there is no wall He won’t kick down, no lie He won’t tear down coming after them. Someone must show them that the Creator of the Universe who spoke the world into being, wants to be known by them. That He is calling them now, that He is inviting them to be a part of his great story. We need people to step into this work God is calling them to. Making disciples is the highest calling we as believers have. It doesn’t take herculean efforts. It just takes showing up. Investing. Praying. and Loving.
But see how powerful it is when children know who God is and how He loves them…. Why are you still waiting? Watch this video, have a good cry and come talk to me…
Also: Upon doing some research about this video, it appears this boy, who’s name is Jairus, is currently homeless, and in need of assistance. I could not in good conscience use this video without sharing this important information. You can find more information on the Youtube channel they created.
