Facilities Discussion Online and In Person

Last week we sent you an email outlining several options regarding Riverside’s future facilities. After spending this past week in prayer, we will now begin sharing our heart and thoughts with respect to our facilities options. We have two places you can do this.

First, we will have live discussions following the worship services on Sundays, July 18 and July 25. Childcare will be provided.

Second, if you are not able to attend our discussions on Sundays, we will also have discussions through the comments section of this post. You can share your thoughts and questions by commenting via the form below. These comments will then be shared during the live discussions.

We deeply desire for all of Riverside, whether a new attendee or long-time member, to participate in this godly process of conversation and discernment.

Internet Pornography Resources

This past week we had the opportunity to look at what the Bible says about sexual immorality.  During the sermon I specifically spoke about the pervasive issue of pornography in our society and how it both dehumanizes people as sexual objects and separates sex and sexuality from its God-given place in committed relationships.  I also mentioned that I would provide more resources to help you overcome and avoid pornography.

E100 Week 20 Discovery Hour

Lesson from Sunday, May 23rd, 2010

Download Lesson: pdf / doc

Our E100 finished up this week with the book of Revelation.  This book is often regarded as one of the most difficult books to understand in the Bible, yet this perception is typically based on a fundamental misunderstanding of it, in my opinion.  When read as a pictorial roadmap of future events through which we can make confident and direction connections to current events, it is indeed very difficult.  However, if we instead read the book with an understanding of its symbolic, rather than pictorial nature, it becomes much more clear and understandable.  Hopefully our discussion of it in class can help make this distinction clear.

Riverside Blood Drive on Sunday, May 30

It’s that time again. Riverside will be hosting its second blood drive for the Indiana Blood Center on Sunday, May 30 from 2:30 p.m. – 5 p.m. The Bloodmobile will be in the parking lot. Don’t miss this chance to be a part of the life-saving network in our community. You can sign up at the worship service on Sunday or you can sign up online HERE.

Indiana Blood Center is a vital link in Indiana’s health care infrastructure, supplying more than 550 units of blood to more than 60 Indiana hospitals every day. The nonprofit community service organization was founded in 1952 to provide a continuous, safe and adequate supply of blood products and testing services. For more information about the blood donation process visit www.indianablood.org.

Riverside Facilities Update

More than a year ago, the Riverside Leadership Team assembled a Development Committee to evaluate Riverside’s current facility usage and future needs.

Last summer Riverside voted to acquire the white house next to our property upon the recommendation of the Development Committee and the Leadership Team. The Riverside offices and Senior High and Junior High youth have now moved into the house freeing up badly needed children’s space in our main facility.
