April 2014 Promiseland Chatter

April 16, 2014

Dear Parents and Teachers,

Last month, the Children’s Ministry Team (CMT) joined Promiseland teachers for a great time of fellowship and sharing. Our desire was to give teachers an opportunity to share what they love about teaching, to brainstorm ways we could improve, and to create a more cohesive group dynamic. Promiseland teachers shared successful, creative teaching strategies and collaborated together on ways to overcome common challenges.

Promiseland Chatter March 2014

Hi, Parents! I want to continue this month on the subject of prayer as I share another article from the book Teaching Children How to Pray. Last month we touched on Parents as Teachers and this month we will look at Teaching Our Children Why We Pray.

We pray because God commands and desires that we pray. For children, why we pray can be summed up in a sentence: Prayer is how we talk with God. Prayer helps us to develop a personal relationship with Him. The Old Testament is filled with illustrations of God’s people speaking to God through prayer. The New Testament shows Jesus, the Son Of God, speaking to God through prayer. Throughout the Bible prayer is lifted up as our personal means of communicating with God.

Promiseland Chatter December 2013

Be Still and Know I Am GOD… These words are running through my head as I hurriedly go from one task to the next this month. I really thought I would do better this year since this is the focus and theme of Advent at RCC. I know all of the things I am busy doing are good, fun things to do at Christmas time, but to God they are not as important as me being still before Him, the reason for the season. So… it is not too late for me to spend some quiet time with God reflecting on his rich blessings He has gifted to me. I am determined to do better!

Promiseland Chatter November 2013

After recently returning from a visit out East to spend time with my daughter and her family, I have pondered over a teachable moment that took place with my daughter and her four year old son.
