Big News from Kristen and Justin

Justin and Kristen have exciting news in there journey to become missionaries overseas.  We will have an opportunity to hear from them on May 16th during the service, but please read the news below and if you want to regularly receive updates you can sign up for there email list as well.

Letter from Kristen and Justin:

Spring some days and winter on others, it must be March!  More than the weather has been changing for us.  The month has brought a lot of changes for us.

We went to Colorado a couple weeks ago and The Navigators confirmed us to be sent out as long-term missionaries to Thailand!  The time in Colorado went smoothly.  We had a whole day of interviews followed by a day of learning the new procedures/policies for this branch of The Navigators.  We left feeling affirmed and a bit overwhelmed by all that’s on our plate between now and the end of July when we hope to leave.

Young Life RENT-A-KID

Exciting things are happening at Greater Lafayette Young Life & WyldLife!  Plans are underway for our summer camps coming up in June.  We plan on taking 25 middle school teens to Timber Wolf Lake in Michigan and 50 High school teens to Castaway Club in Minnesota.

Due to increases in costs and the downturn in the economy we have more teens than ever needing financial assistance.  We are providing several opportunities for teens and adult leaders to raise some funds towards their camp fees and that’s where you come in!

RENT-A-KID

Do you have any jobs around your home or office that you have been putting off?  Here is your chance to help send a kid to camp and get your work completed at the same time!  For $100, you can RENT-A-KID and receive 6 man hours (one adult leader and one kid for three hours together) of work (more kids and leaders available for larger jobs).  Please notify the Young Life Office with any of your job needs. We will gather the specifics of your job and connect the right individuals to your job.

All jobs are to be completed between now and May 22, 2010.

Download Flyer here.

Operation Christmas Child Update

We recieved the following announcement from Samaritan’s Purse regarding the sucess of Operation Christmas Child:

Sharing the Gospel message is at the heart of all that we do through Operation Christmas Child. We are deeply grateful to your congregation for their faithful prayers and enthusiastic participation in the project in 2009. More than 8.1 million shoe box gifts–the most ever–were collected this past holiday season, with the United States contributing 5.2 million of those gifts. Because of churches like yours, boys and girls around the world will now have the opportunity to hear the Good News of God’s greatest gift, Jesus Christ!

2009 Jubilee Christmas Report

For the first time, Riverside Covenant church partnered with many local churches to help with the Jubilee Christmas program. The program is designed for selected families to be able to choose toys for their children that have been provided by partner churches. The parents can be heroes by giving toys to their children.
